Last month I mentioned that Mars was up to mischief making hard aspects to the outer planets Uranus and Pluto. This continues through the middle of October. And could trigger impulsive or angry behavior. I also see it playing out as reckless driving.

In addition, the month also begins with Mercury and Neptune in a 180-degree opposition, which represents illusion or delusion, depending on your perspective. This combination of Mars, Uranus, and Pluto plus Mercury square Neptune is not a great set up if you must make big decisions this month. These are aspects that are about as befuddling as Mercury retrograde on steroids. Overall, the energy we are working with is stalled and stymied. We will need to really maintain our focus to move forward.

This October is also hosting a New Moon Solar Eclipse on October 14th at 21 degrees of Libra. This New Moon will square Pluto, which could generate high emotions that day. The companion Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is on October 28th at 5 degrees of Taurus. This eclipse will be conjunct Jupiter, so its energy will be easier on our psyches.

Eclipses always come in pairs like they do in October. Ancient people didn’t understand these phenomena and interpreted them as indications of angry gods. Thanks to science, we understand them differently now. I see eclipses as opportunities to expand our views of what is possible and as points of focus for personal evolution. They often bring attention to uncomfortable matters or areas of growth and it is up to us to respond proactively to this energy.
